KETCHUM
(November 29, 2007)
- George B. “Chip” Fisher of
Ketchum/Sun Valley, is a newly elected director of the Idaho Foundation for
Parks and Lands, a statewide land trust.
He joins a board of thirteen members from all over the state.
“We are
thrilled to have Chip join our board.
He is a 40+ year resident of Idaho and his love for the outdoors and
protecting open space will be an asset,” stated Don Weilmunster, president.
“We need a person in the Wood River Valley with the talent and expertise
that Chip possesses. The Foundation
owns properties in that area, including the Reinheimer Ranch and the River’s
Edge Nature Preserve, and we need the oversight and direction of a person who
lives in the area and who loves to take on the challenges of conservation of
open space.”
Fisher,
who is the Chairman and CEO of the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games has
a background in the ski/sports industry and in real estate development.
He has served on the Ketchum City Council and has been president of the
Sun Valley Chamber of Commerce.
The Idaho
Foundation for Parks and Lands, formed in 1972, was instrumental in the
acquisition of Harriman State Park in Eastern Idaho.
The Foundation continues to make its mark across the landscape of Idaho
working with individuals and corporations through a volunteer organization,
saving land, trails and habitat. It
also works with cities, counties, the State of Idaho and Recreation Districts to
hold land until the receiving agency is ready for it.
Every year the Foundation protects and preserves open space, including
both fee title and conservation easements.
